FIANDRA

Fiandra is a modular system featuring padding in recycled polyester fiber wadding, polyurethane with a percentage of bio-based polyols, and polyurethane with a percentage of recycled polyols. The internal frame is webbed and powder-coated, with a black velvet bottom closure. The upholstery is fabric.

Available as an armchair and a sofa, Fiandra defines spaces through a careful selection of modules—expanded by Cassina to allow for multiple interpretations of use—and is now also offered as a chaise-longue and a square ottoman. The various elements can be combined to create original compositions or used individually.

Cassina rediscovers the charm of Fiandra, the model designed by Vico Magistretti for the company in 1975, offering a new interpretation that celebrates its pioneering spirit. Fifty years after its creation, the volumes of this icon are expanded and its shapes become more enveloping to meet the needs of contemporary living.

Reinforcing Cassina’s commitment to designing new horizons in the furniture industry with an increasingly sustainable approach, Fiandra has been renewed using innovative materials and made easily disassemblable.

The new construction of Fiandra is characterized by the absence of a co-molded structure: the differentiated-density cushions are simply laid on the metal frame and securely wrapped in an inner cover made of recycled polyester fiber to ensure maximum stability of the piece. Fiandra’s innovation is not only structural but also material: the soft internal cushions are made of two types of polyurethane—one with a percentage of bio-based polyols, and the other with a percentage of recycled polyols.

Thanks to this innovative system, Fiandra is easy to disassemble: at the end of its life, all components can be separated, allowing the metal structure to be divided from the padding, thus facilitating material recycling in a circular approach.

Offered in a wide range of fabrics, it is the upholstery itself that defines Fiandra’s recognizable volumes, wrapping all structural elements to emphasize its timeless beauty.
