Hos is an armchair with footrest made of wood, upholstered with removable recycled PET fabric suitable for outdoor use.
The rug becomes a membrane that envelops wooden frames. The final result materializes in wooden structures that convey the essence of the Japanese construction tradition and in soft fabrics. Hos is also a tribute to the Japanese tradition of using fibers such as silk, hemp, and cotton.
The footrest can also be used as a side table.
Kengo Kuma has designed a space characterized by soft partitions made of recycled PET fabrics, developed in collaboration with GAN and the artisans working with the Gandia Blasco Group team. This development is the result of a careful study of fiber behavior, created for the HOS collection, which—with the consistency of a rug—has been used to design a set of furniture combined with a wooden structure that has a strong architectural character.
The beautiful wooden structures, which evoke the essence of Japanese construction tradition, and the soft, substantial fabrics of the HOS collection, which poetically aim to reproduce natural phenomena and elements such as rain, earth, or fog through their pattern design, have been translated into the stand design, creating a fluid yet enveloping space with an essentially natural character.
