TL59

TL59 is a round table with a metal structure and a glass top, specifically featuring a cast aluminum base coated with Bronze, Brass or Titanium metal powder, with a black painted metal plate; the top is made of wood honeycomb panel with internal metal reinforcements, covered in Bronze, Brass or Titanium metal powder.

The TL59 table reveals a deeply evocative material expressiveness, where the solidity of aluminum meets the purity of glass in an architectural sculpture. Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1975, this table is now presented by Cassina in two new versions.

The geometries of TL59 tell a harmonious visual story, in which each structural element fits or overlaps perfectly with the other. The defining feature of the model is its architectural base, entirely made of cast aluminum. The two circular discs at the ends, which act respectively as the tabletop support and the base, are connected by two joined vertical elements that converge toward the center of the table. This junction carves a triangle at the center of the two discs, creating a play of solids and voids that further enhances the sculptural aesthetic of the table.

This glass version creates a fascinating visual contrast, where the base, finished with a black powder coating and a refined embossing, harmoniously dialogues with the tempered glass top, taken from the original model. Like the negative of a photograph, the transparent or smoked float glass top reveals the beauty of the base, inviting one to discover its architectural lines.

The elegance of the table is further enhanced by the beveled edge of the top, a perimeter finish that thins the contour and shapes a clear crystal-like frame.
